Since receiving an MFA in Dramaturgy from Yale School of Drama in 2014, Sarah has worked in theater as a director, translator, playwright, librettist, performer, producer, dramaturg, and teacher at Yale College, Rutgers Preparatory School in Somerset, NJ, and Temple Bat Yahm in Newport Beach, CA.

Sarah’s first large-scale production was her own translation of the French play Le Problème by François Bégaudeau, which she also directed and co-produced with Sally Shen.  Many of Sarah’s original pieces have been French-English bilingual, and through them she explores the stage as a site for reading text in addition to watching performance, as well as working towards increased accessibility for multicultural audiences.

Recent pre-Covid theater pieces include Knacked, a new music/theater piece for the Brooklyn-based Exponential Festival in January 2020. Sarah’s libretto, I Looked at the Eclipse, was set to music by James Ilgenfritz and performed as a new-music opera at Roulette, also in Brooklyn, in December 2019. The Exponential Festival also showcased her shadow puppet show, Secrets of Green-Wood, in February 2019. A dance-based version of I Looked at the Eclipse appeared at Triskelion Arts as part of CollabFest, with choreography by Stephanie Sleeper.

Sarah appeared in the feature film Madame de Void, written and directed by performance artists Felix Bernstein and Gabe Rubin, which was on view at David Lewis Gallery in Manhattan in July 2018.  In 2016-2017, She performed in and served as dramaturg for the Motherland series by performance artist Cecilia Corrigan at Issue Project Room and the Brick Theater, both in Brooklyn.

Sarah was an artist-in-residence at the Catwalk Institute in Catskill, NY from Oct 13-Nov 1, 2020, to work on a project called On Guard, in which she created a theater/movement piece based on people’s experience and physicality in museums. Sarah will return to the Catwalk Institute in March 2023 as part of a 4-person team to work on Queen for a Day, a devised theater piece about the 1950s game show. In June and July 2023, Sarah will continue work on On Guard at the RaumArs residency in Rauma, Finland.

Finally, Sarah has been involved in several pandemic-era streaming projects. She was a monologue writer and performer in The Skeleton Rep(resents): The Great Vanishing, and she wrote, directed, and appeared in Darg Show for An Abundance of Caution, produced by the Brick Theater, featuring Tori Bentley and Cecilia Corrigan. Darg Show is a video of women performing monologues written by and for men, plus a drag king music video.  Sarah intends to continue this project as a series exploring gender influence in playwriting by flipping gender roles onstage.
